White smoked chicken chili

Everyone at my super bowl party said this was the best chili they ever had.  Smoke the hell out of the chicken on the egg, I use a whole beer chicken or sectioned whole chicken.  Smoke it, remove skin, chop and follow the directions.

2 medium onions, chopped
1 tbs oil
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans chopped green chilis
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp cayenne pepper
¼ tsp ground cloves
2 cans – 14 ½ ounces – chicken broth
4 cups cubed cooked chicken
3 cans – 14 ½ ounces - great northern beans
2 cups shredded mont. Jack cheese
sour cream and jalapeños optional

in 3 quart saucepan saute onions

stir in garlic, chilis, cumin, oregano, cayenne and cloves

cook and stir 3 min more

add broth, chicken, and beans

simmer, uncovered 15 min

remove heat, stir in cheese

garnish with sour cream and JPs

My family absolutely loved this chili. I am from New Mexico so the only thing that could make this better was some hot NM Green Chile. Thanks for the recipe!!

I am doing a similar recipe today on the egg using N
M Hatch Green chilis. I omitted the hot spices because the Hatch chilis fired this up nicely. Am going to serve over rice.

I made some minor changes to this and it was great...for a more robust taste, use one can of green chilis and one can of dices jalapenos. Also, cook the chili in a dutch oven on the egg, adding a little of your favorite wood chips for a touch of smoky flavor. Once it starts to simmer, reduce the heat and let it go for an hour or so...I promise you'll like it!
