I did, indeed, replace the old bands that came with my BGE based on the discussion in this thread and with not a little amount of $$.

I think it was worth it. I acquired them from my local BGE dealer and installed them myself this afternoon. Boy it is hot in South East Texas today. Anyway, I got them installed and just had to try my "new" Green Egg today. I started a fire and the first thing I noticed (and expected) was that with a no-leak draft from the bottom of the BGE to the top, the fire came up to temp as I remember it when it was new...wow! I cooked a couple of chicken breasts and they were delicious.

So, this problem comes to an end with a success with the valuable assistance of a couple of folks on this forum, as I expected when I rejoined the participation. Again, many thanks to you, my BGE friends.

I shall endeavor to remain at least lurking in the forum, but I will ceertainly contribute when I feel my opinion and knowledge would be beneficial.

Again, thanks to all who helped...and to all who read and hopefully learned from my experience.
