Don't hate me because I live here!

Oct 15th starts stone crab season around FL, so I called all around town to find out who had them and how much $$$.

$64 for 8 of them, not cheap, but so fantastic!

The market even cracked them perfectly for me, so I didn't have to do it when I got home.

This weekend is a big stone crab festival down at the beach, so more stone crabs for me then!

Thanks for lookin.

Your posts about these always look so good!! Just curious, how many people can you feed with eight of them?

Even THAT is high up here in central IL, but knowing yours are fresh and probably 4 times the size that our SOLE "fresh" fish monger supposedly flies in weekly you still win! Oh well...

I served with melted butta but also made homemade mustard sauce from Joe's Stone Crab recipe in Miami:

Mayo
Powdered mustard
Worcestershire sauce
A-1 sauce
Splash of half and half
S&P

It goes perfectly with the crab.

Q, 4 per person, they were 4 claws per lb, so large and not Jumbos.

Thanks. That's pretty steep! Doesn't really matter here. I checked with the best fish monger we have here and he pretty much laughed at me. Said, "I never have any. Even if I got some in, you couldn't afford it!"

Bob, I can't say they are "fishy", but more like crabby! It's hard to describe. They smell and taste like the sea. If you ever had canned crab, that has much more fish smell and taste than fresh crab.

Thanks you Faith, I appreciated you take the time to do your best at answering my question. I know it must be hard for a fish eater to describe. Yes, I have had caned crab but that was many years ago. LOL

Thank you,
