I'm looking for make ahead ideas that I can package up and take to work for lunches. I'm just sick of all the places to eat around the job, so I need inspiration from you smart people. Basscat's meatloaf posted below goes straight on my list. Thanks!

Hot or cold?

If hot do you have a way to warm?

If cold do you have a refrigerator to keep it cold?

Just yourself?

Both a microwave and a fridge. Of course, I don't mind bringing stuff to share with others.

I love chicken drumsticks reheated or cold.

Smoked deviled eggs maybe?

Meatloaf or "stuffed fatty sausage" or home smoked pastrami sammiches.

Or for low carb how about thin sliced smoked tri-tip in lettuce leaves with horseradish and mayo.

I'm retired now, but when I was working I frequently brought in a salad with some cutup leftover chicken or steak on it. Tasted great and was a good alternative to fast food.

Any large protein; whole chicken, beef roast, pork loin/tenderloin, pulled pork, cochinita pibil, Joan's carne guisada, etc. Sandwiches, chicken salad, tossed salad with meat of choice, maybe tacos (or taco salad), for a week.

Here's Judy's post about carne guisada - wonderful stuff!! Works very well with chicken too! Great on a bun with slaw, better as a taco!

Also, if you like Mexican, take a look at Rick Bayless' stuff on You Tube. Lots of great ideas there.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

in the morning drizzle souza tequila on watermelon. at work squeeze a lime on the watermelon and then dip it in salt lunch today was an italian pasta salad from the italian deli, probably make my own next week. been buying the expensive tuna in jars and putting that on no lettuce salads. i hit the italian and lebanese bakery, an apple orchard and the local supermarket weekly at lunch time. last week i found a place with black forest ham and melted brie sandwiches, ham freezes fairly well

I really appreciate all the ideas. I knew you guys would come through for me. (Except the tequila on watermelon, that sounds good for AFTER work, but you already know that, Fishless!)
